Here is the complete Bob Evans Gluten-Free menu.
Bob Evans has a variety of gluten-free options to choose from for breakfast lunch and dinner. They do note on their allergen menu that due to the shared preparation environment, some cross-contamination is possible with any of their food.
However, they also say to make sure and let the manager know if you have any food allergies or sensitivities before placing your order. We’ve also heard that they are very accommodating when it comes to dealing with diners with special dietary needs and will take specific precautions before preparing your food to help avoid contamination.
They may not claim to be a gluten-free restaurant, but there are a lot of gluten-free options on their menu, so it may be a good place to check out!

Bob Evans History
Bob Evans is an American restaurant chain that is known for its pork sausage products. This company is the brainchild of Robert Lewis “Bob” Evans who named it after himself. It’s based in New Albany, Ohio and is also the parent company of Owens Country Sausage. The company has more than 600 locations spread across 24 states. All of them are company owned, not franchised to individuals.
Bob Evans restaurants feature a unique country life theme, as well as a close appreciation of farms and farm-fresh food. Guests can enjoy sumptuous breakfasts served daily from their restaurants. Apart from providing pork products, they also have a section for baked goods, snacks, and small gift items.
Their story began in 1948 when founder, Bob Evans, started making sausage rolls from his Southeastern Ohio farm and serving them at a small 12-stool diner which he owned in the Gallipolis area. Though demand was high, he just couldn’t find any decent sausages for the customers which caused him to start making his own rolls from boars raised on the family farm using all the best portions of the pig such as hams and tenderloins.
Originally, most customers were long-distance truck drivers who passed by the restaurant to dine and rest before continuing on their journey. Most of them proclaimed that Bob Evans served the tastiest sausages they had ever eaten.
Today, the original restaurant which only had a seating capacity of 12 can now seat 134 guests. Moreover, Bob’s family farm in Rio Grande where they once lived has been converted into a tourist destination with facilities for camping, concerts, hiking, and other events all year long. The biggest event is Bob Evans Farm Festival, which is an annual occasion commemorating the company’s heritage since 1971. This event attracts thousands of visitors each year and is usually held on the second weekend of October.

Bob Evans Gluten-Free Menu
- Gluten-Free Options
Summary
Bob Evans offers a lot of food on their menu, and they do have many gluten-free options. We do wish that they would provide a separate gluten-free menu on their website as opposed to just a list of allergens, but we’ve also heard great things about their service when it comes to helping out those with special dietary needs. They also put a lot of emphasis on farm fresh ingredients, and many of their grocery products are gluten-free as well. This may be a great place to go for a good amount of gluten-free options, but make sure to let them know if you have a food allergy or sensitivity so they can help you out with your order and take the proper precautions.
Is you fried mush gluten free. I didn’t see it on the allergy menu. Thank you.
Does Bob Evans have gluten free pancakes?
Hey Betty,
Unfortunately, Bob Evans doesn’t have any gluten-free pancakes that we know of.
No they do not :(
I am interested in coming for a noon meal and would like to know what you offer in gluten-free foods. I am also lactose intolerant. Would I be able to eat at your restaurant and what kind of choices would I have?
Hey Phyllis,
You would need to contact Bob Evans to see if they can accommodate you.
Your summer special is a chicken salad platter with a lot of fruit. Does the chicken salad contain gluten?
I noticed oatmeal on the G/F menu. Do you use certified G/F oatmeal? And are there precautions taken to avoid cross contamination with the non G/F oatmeal?
I was at a Bob Evans last weekend and the home fries were marked off as not on the gluten free list. I was told that they were now deep frying them. The lady did tell me that you can request to have them done on the grill. Just wonder if that is chain wide or just the location that I was at. Never expected home fries to be deep fried. Doesn’t that make them deep fried potato cubes. Obviously I like the good old home fries.
Thanks for commenting Mary.
We updated the info above a while back with a warning about cross-contamination due to how they prepare the fries.
Their home fries are done in a shared fryer so they are not gluten free.
Thanks Christine! I’ve added another warning about the fries and cross-contamination to the post above.
Hi
Do you know if the Bob Evans sausage gravy is gluten free or not
Hey Peter,
According to Bob Evan’s website, the sausage gravy is not gluten-free, unfortunately.
You left out hollandaise sauce. Is it gluten free?
Bleu cheese, listed as gluten free, is, of course, like all cheese, gluten free HOWEVER commercial packages of bleu cheese, typical of the way it’s provided to restaurants, are usually separated with WHITE FLOUR…. to avoid caking.
Just ask for any Bleu cheese ON THE SIDE for someone else to eat. If you have to have it, bring your own!
Not sure the chocolate sauce they use at the moment is gluten free.
And, as usual, avoid pickles. Sure, the ones you get at the grocery in small jars are usually gluten free, but the restaurants get them in large jars, which may be packed in MALT VINEGAR ~ a non-gluten free product.
It had been some time since I had been to a Bob Evans. I was disappointed to find you no longer had a gluten free bread or the hollandaise sauce. However, I am pleased you have so many choices. Thank you
I was recently at my Bob Evan’s in Springfield Illinois, I asked for gluten free menu, the waitress couldn’t find one and asked another. She said Bob Evan’s doesn’t offer gluten free items anymore. I was totally shocked and upset as this is my go to restaurant. So they lost two dinners that day. Hope this is not true.
