Here is the complete Culver’s Gluten-Free menu. Culvers does a great job of providing information on what food they offer that is gluten-free. They also have a lot of options too! They have Rotella’s gluten-free buns available to have with their burgers and sandwiches as well as a lot of other food items and desserts that are gluten-free.
They do state that there may be some chance of cross-contamination, but also say to inform the cashier or manager if you have a food allergy so they can help you out.
Culver’s Gluten-Free Menu 2024
Butterburgers & Sandwiches
They offer Rotella’s gluten-free buns to have with their burgers and sandwiches, so just double-check the ingredients that come with it and ask for a gluten-free bun. And guess what? They actually give you a packaged (sealed) Rotella’s bun that is warmed up. And then the ingredients are separate in another box. This is the best method I have seen at any fast food place.

They do note that most of their meats are cooked on a shared grill that may come in contact with other foods containing gluten.

Culver’s History
Culver’s is a family-owned restaurant chain that started in 1984. It’s the brainchild of Lea and Craig Culver alongside Craig’s parents Ruth and George. The first stall was opened in their native hometown of Sauk City, Wisconsin. Before its inception, Ruth and her husband had seized an opportunity to purchase a small local inn. They had no formal training but relied on their hospitality and great cooking skills to retain customers.
The two were successful in business and decided to bring in their kids to lend a helping hand as they grew up, serving clients and gaining experience firsthand on how to treat people. The family’s team approach to running a restaurant chain became prosperous and served as a model for other restaurants and dinner clubs in the area. However, the decision to start their own brand name, Culver’s restaurant, only came in 1984 and no one in the family could resist it. Craig combined his love for homemade hamburgers with a favorite childhood treat, Fresh Frozen Custard, earmarking the creation of their popular signature dish, Culver’s Fresh Frozen Custard and ButterBurgers.
As of 2003, Culver’s had about 200 stores spread across the country mostly in the Midwest, though the firm also has branches in Texas and Kentucky. These restaurants represent a middle ground between typical fast food & family dining. Their average eatery seats around 120 people and the medium sum spent in these restaurants is $7. Recently, the chain has been expanding rapidly and sales have even outpaced the industry’s average standard.
Their commitment to creating the world’s finest desserts still remains strong to this day. For preparing Culver’s ButterBurgers, they only use fresh, never frozen Midwest beef that’s seared to perfection and spread with light butter for an extra taste of goodness. The Fresh Frozen Custard is also served cordially, combining various tasty ingredients such as Dutch-blend chocolate and cold-pressed vanilla. Every order is delivered fresh right from the kitchen.

George’s Chili from Culver’s has gluten. Go to http://www.culvers.com/menu-and-nutrition/allergen-grid,Scroll way down until you see *
View our Quality Ingredients information. Scroll down to George’s Chili. Tell me I’m wrong because I love it and eat it often.
Hey Jill.
George’s Chili has the following ingredients. I don’t see anything containing wheat or gluten in here.
Dark Red Kidney Beans (Kidney Beans, Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Sugar, Salt,
Calcium Chloride, Disodium EDTA [to preserve color], Natural Flavorings), Beef, Tomato Juice (Tomato
Juice, Sea Salt, Citric Acid), Water, Diced Tomatoes (Tomatoes, Tomato Juice, Salt, Citric Acid and
Calcium Chloride), Onions, Celery, Green Peppers, Banana Peppers (Peppers, Water, Salt, Acetic Acid,
Calcium Chloride, Sodium Benzoate [As a Preservative], Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Bisulfate, Turmeric,
FD&C Yellow #5), Seasoning (Spices, Salt Brown Sugar, Soybean Oil, Tricalcium Phosphate added to
prevent caking), Tomato Paste (Tomatoes and Citric Acid), Modified Food Starch, Sunflower Oil, Garlic
Salt, Beef Consommé (Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Salt, Beef Extract, Caramel Color, Disodium Inosinate and
Disodium Guanylate, Sodium Benzoate [as a preservative], Spice Extractive ).
Modified food starch can be wheat or corn. Without specifying, it should be avoided by those with celiac disease.
In the USA modified food starch is always corn based.
The cheese they put on the chili cheese fries do have gluten. You may want to be careful with this list and just have people check Culver’s site directly so no one gets sick.
Yes, we update our site as they do. They previously listed chili cheese fries as gluten-free. We see they have now updated their allergen menu. We have updated the post above. That is why we always link to their official allergen menu at the bottom. Thanks!
I would to revise my question. Can one get fish without the batter, and a gluten free bun?
I’m curious as to why Culvers will not put my requested condiments on my gluten free burger. I get a bun and then the burger with cheese and pickles just messily tossed in a box. No ketchup or mustard…not even packets.
I’m not celiac, just have an intolerance of wheat and gluten so I request the gluten free bun. I’m just not impressed with what I’m used to getting prior to gluten free. I will say too that the bun is way too thick…its all I can taste…especially with no ketchup and mustard or mayo. Just a dry, tasteless burger that’s not worth the extra $2 for the bun option. I’m sure it is for those that absolutely must have that option. I’m not going to switch back to a regular bun, I’ll just not order your burgers in the future.
The buns are ok but I prefer to toast the bun at home to a desired crispness otherwise the buns fall apart.
I’m curious about the French fries, I have read multiple different articles. some say they are gluten free and some say they aren’t. understandably the fries themselves are gluten free but if they are fried in the same fryer as other things that contain gluten then they would not be safe to ingest for those with celiac or an intolerance. Have you don’t further research? Do you know if they use a separate fryer for their fries like McDonald’s does?
